Intakes and the Curtin College pathway

Curtin has two main intakes. For Perth and Kalgoorlie, international applications for Semester 1 close on 28 January 2027, and Semester 2 applications open on 1 March 2027 and close on 1 July 2027. Some courses list different dates, so confirm on your course page. Semester 1 usually starts in mid-February and Semester 2 in late July.

If your marks are just below direct entry, Curtin College offers a two-year diploma in two stages on the Bentley campus. Completing it gives entry to the second year of a Curtin bachelor's, and students with Year 12 or equivalent can start at Stage 2.

The new student visa rules

From 2 October 2026, new rules limit who can apply for a student visa while already in Australia and whether family members can be included. The Department of Home Affairs says Australia continues to welcome international students who meet the requirements. Plan to apply from home, and read our guides to the genuine student requirement and the Australia student visa document checklist.

Applying from Sri Lanka

  • English: Curtin lists GCE O/L or A/L with a credit pass (C) in English among its accepted English qualifications. Check your course page, since some courses ask for a test score.
  • Curtin in Colombo: Curtin opened a Colombo campus with SLIIT in December 2024, teaching engineering, computing and business, and students there can transfer to Curtin's Australian campuses. More than 2,500 people in Sri Lanka have graduated with Curtin degrees.
