Toi Ohomai intakes and how to apply

The main intakes are February and July. Nursing starts in late January, and some postgraduate management courses in May. The official how-to-apply page sets out these steps:

  1. Send the international application form with verified copies of your documents.
  2. Receive an Offer of Place, which stays conditional until any missing documents arrive.
  3. Apply for your student visa. If you live outside New Zealand, you pay tuition after Immigration New Zealand (INZ) approves the visa in principle.
  4. Send the fee receipt to INZ, receive the visa and book travel.

Our New Zealand student visa requirements guide lists the documents. From 27 October 2026, INZ treats English language ability as a key factor in student visa decisions, and student visas that would have expired one month after the course end date now expire two months after it.

INZ rules, not Toi Ohomai, decide which courses lead to a post-study work visa. Read our New Zealand post-study work visa guide before you choose.
