Check the course page for a January start, as courses can close early when full.
On the how to apply page, undergraduates apply through UCAS or directly with the International Student Application Form. Postgraduates apply directly. Our list of documents required for a master's in the UK helps you prepare, and after the CAS see how to apply for a UK student visa.
Applying from Sri Lanka
Cardiff Met's Sri Lanka entry reads:
- Year 1 of a three-year degree: good A/L grades, or good O/L grades plus a recognised Foundation course, or an HND or Diploma in Social Work.
- Postgraduate: a bachelor's degree from a recognised institution in Sri Lanka or the UK, a Bachelor Special degree with a CGPA of 2.7/4 or above, or a professional degree.
- English: against the IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in each part) standard, the page shows an O/L grade A or an A/L pass C (or 50%), plus an English interview for undergraduates. Confirm the subject with admissions. Postgraduates also meet a medium of instruction check against listed universities: Colombo, Moratuwa, Sri Jayewardenepura, Kelaniya, Peradeniya and the Open University of Sri Lanka.
When I match results to a rule like this, I start with the number the university prints. A Special degree CGPA is read against the 2.7/4 line. A/L results have no printed grade, so check "good grades" against the course page and ask admissions. Then plan the funds in our UK student visa 28-day rule guide.
