Anglia Ruskin University for International Students: Fees, Entry and Scholarships
TL;DR: Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) takes international students at its Cambridge, Chelmsford, Peterborough and Writtle campuses, with September and January starts on many courses. International fees start from £17,500 a year for 2026/27 and £18,825 for 2027/28 undergraduate entry, and new international undergraduates receive a scholarship of up to £5,000 or £7,000 automatically. The deposit is £4,000 and must be paid before ARU issues your CAS.
Anglia Ruskin University is a public university in the East of England, with a campus a short walk from the centre of Cambridge and more than one start date on many courses. This guide covers the campuses, intakes, fees, entry and English requirements, scholarships and the deposit, all from ARU's own pages. To see where you stand first, check your eligibility with Prosper.
What is Anglia Ruskin University like for international students?
Anglia Ruskin University teaches on four main UK campuses, which its scholarship terms call its core campuses:
- Cambridge: a short walk from the centre of Cambridge.
- Chelmsford: a modern campus in the city's University and Innovation Quarter.
- ARU Peterborough: ARU's newest campus, near Peterborough's historic city centre, with around 28 undergraduate and 9 postgraduate courses, including computing, cyber security, AI and data science and business.
- Writtle: set in the Essex countryside.
ARU also has partner colleges that teach ARU-validated degrees, such as ARU London, which ARU lists separately from its own campuses. Each course page names the campus and the start dates.
When are ARU intakes?
ARU runs September, January and May starts, but intakes vary by course. The BSc International Business Management and the MSc Computer Science both list January 2027 and September 2027 starts, while the MSc Public Health and Community Wellbeing starts in September 2027 only.
ARU says most courses stay open while there is space and enough time for the deposit, CAS and visa, and it has no strict deposit deadline. It had not published January 2027 CAS deadlines at the time of writing, so apply early for a January start.

The MSc Computer Science also has a Professional Experience option, which adds £4,400 in 2026/27 or £4,600 in 2027/28 and takes 20 months from a January start. Label the fee year when you budget: some ARU course pages already show 2027/28 fees. Our guide to UK tuition fees for international students puts these figures in context.
Anglia Ruskin University scholarships
- International Undergraduate Scholarship: up to £5,000 (£2,000 in the first year) or up to £7,000 (£4,000 in the first year), then £1,000 in each later year. It is awarded automatically to new full-time international fee payers at Cambridge, Chelmsford, Peterborough or Writtle, with no deadline.
- International Postgraduate Scholarship: up to £4,000, for MBA students and ARU graduates, awarded automatically.
- Paying in full: ARU takes £1,000 off the first year if you pay your tuition fees in full before teaching starts, and this can be combined with the undergraduate scholarship in year one.
ARU College courses, foundation degrees and online courses are excluded from the undergraduate scholarship.
Anglia Ruskin University entry requirements

How do you get your CAS from ARU?
After you accept your offer, you pay a £4,000 deposit for undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses, and ARU then issues your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. ARU notes that a deposit may not be refunded if a visa is refused because of false or incomplete information. Our guides to the CAS, the UK university deposit and how to apply for a UK student visa walk through what comes next.
Applying from Sri Lanka
ARU's Sri Lanka page asks for two GCE A/L passes with grade C in relevant subjects for undergraduate entry, or a recognised foundation programme. For postgraduate entry it asks for a three or four year bachelor's degree with a minimum of division 2 (50 to 59 percent) from a recognised university, or a recognised pre-master's course. The IELTS levels are the same as above: 6.0 for undergraduate and 6.5 for postgraduate, with nothing lower than 5.5. You can sit IELTS or PTE in Colombo (IELTS Sri Lanka guide), and before the visa you take the TB test at the IOM clinic in Colombo (IOM TB test guide).
