University of East Anglia for International Students: Fees and Entry
TL;DR: The University of East Anglia for international students means a parkland campus in Norwich, England, September starts for most courses and January starts for some computing and AI master's degrees. International fees for 2026/27 start at £23,100 a year for undergraduate humanities and business, and eligible postgraduates receive an automatic merit scholarship of up to £6,500.
The University of East Anglia (UEA) suits students who want a campus university with strong computing, business and environmental courses, in a city that costs less than London. This guide covers what UEA charges, what entry looks like, which courses start in January, and how the scholarships work. Check your eligibility with Prosper to see which UEA route fits your grades.
Is the University of East Anglia good for international students?
UEA sits on a 360-acre parkland campus in Norwich with woodland, lakes and the Sainsbury Centre art gallery on site, and it has students from more than 100 countries (UEA, why study at UEA). UEA quotes these results on the same page:
- 26th in the UK in the Complete University Guide 2026
- Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework 2023
- Norwich named the top place to live in the UK by The Times in 2026
Rankings are one input, not the whole decision: course content, fees and entry route matter as much.

UEA entry requirements and English
Postgraduate course pages typically ask for a UK 2:2 degree or equivalent (MSc Data Science). Most UEA course pages ask for IELTS 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each component, taken within two years of the course start. UEA's country guidance gives IELTS 6.5 (6.0 in each component) or PTE Academic 62 (55 in each) as a guideline, so always check the English score on your exact course page.
If your grades or English are slightly short, the INTO UEA International Study Centre runs an International Foundation, an International Year One and Pre-Master's programmes that lead into UEA degrees (UEA foundation and diploma programmes).
From offer to CAS at UEA
UEA issues your CAS after you accept your offer, pay the deposit and complete any pre-CAS checks, which can include an interview (UEA postgraduate offer holders). Some deposits are non-refundable, so read the terms before you pay. Our guides to conditional vs unconditional offers in the UK and the UK university deposit explain each stage.
Applying from Sri Lanka
UEA's Sri Lanka page says holders of the Sri Lankan GCE A/L are considered for direct undergraduate admission. For postgraduate study, holders of a Special Bachelor degree are considered for master's entry, and General degree holders may be considered for a Postgraduate Diploma (UEA Sri Lanka). UEA does not list O/L English as a replacement for an English test.
Sri Lanka is one of the eligible countries for the PG Merit Scholarship B. After your CAS, the visa steps from Colombo are the IOM TB test and biometrics: see our IOM Colombo TB test guide and how to apply for a UK student visa.
