October 30, 2026

TL;DR: Coventry University takes international students into undergraduate and postgraduate courses at its Coventry and London campuses, with several start dates a year. Taught master's fees on the course pages checked sit around £19,500 to £21,300 for the first year, and self-funded international students who pay their deposit on time receive a £2,000 scholarship for each year of study, with no application. This guide covers campuses, intakes, fees, entry and English requirements, the £2,000 scholarship and the deposit, all from Coventry's own pages. If you want to know where you stand first, check your eligibility with Prosper.

What is Coventry University like for international students?

Coventry University is a public university based in central Coventry, in the English Midlands, with a history dating back to 1843. It runs as the Coventry University Group, with several UK locations:

  • Coventry campus: the main city-centre campus, where most degrees are taught.
  • Coventry University London: a central London campus near Liverpool Street Station, with undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
  • CU Coventry and CU London: smaller sites in Coventry, Dagenham and Greenwich with practical, career-focused courses in small classes.
  • CU Scarborough: a campus on the North Yorkshire coast, focused on health, cyber security and business.

The campus that teaches your course is listed on each course page. Coventry also says it was rated Gold for student experience in the Teaching Excellence Framework 2023.

When are Coventry University intakes?

For the 2026/27 year Coventry lists intakes in November 2026, January 2027, March 2027, May 2027 and July 2027, and its 2027/28 course pages add September 2027. Not every course runs at every intake, so check the course page for your programme.

For a January 2027 start, Coventry publishes these deadlines:

StepDeadline
Final date to applyTuesday 1 December 2026
Final date to meet offer conditionsFriday 4 December 2026
Last enrolment dateMonday 1 February 2027

The Coventry University Group Scholarship

The Coventry University Group Scholarship is worth £2,000 for each year of study, which is £6,000 across a three-year bachelor's degree. It is open to students from all countries except the UK and EU who pay their own fees and start in the 2026/27 or 2027/28 year.

There is no application form. To receive it, you pay the full deposit needed for your CAS by the date in your offer letter. Online courses and some partner-delivered courses are excluded, so check the terms for your course.

Coventry University entry requirements

Coventry's general requirements for international students are:

  • Postgraduate taught: an honours degree at 2:2 or above, or the international equivalent. Some courses, such as the MBA, add work experience.
  • Undergraduate: set per course. For example, BSc Data Science for 2027/28 lists a typical offer of BBB at A level, including Mathematics at grade B.
  • English, undergraduate: IELTS 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each component, or TOEFL iBT 79 with at least 18 in each component.
  • English, postgraduate: IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 5.5 in each component, or TOEFL iBT 88 with at least 19 in each component.

If your English score is a little short, Coventry runs pre-sessional English courses of 5, 10 or 15 weeks from IELTS 4.5. For January 2027 degrees these run online only, at £2,300 for 5 weeks or £4,600 for 10 weeks.

How do you apply and get your CAS?

You apply directly through Coventry's online application portal, or through UCAS for undergraduate courses (institution code C85). Our guide to the UCAS application explains that route.

Coventry issues your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies once you meet all your offer conditions and pay the deposit. Its deposit table lists £8,000 for most countries, with higher amounts for some; the figure for your country is in the table and in your offer letter. Our guides to the CAS and the UK university deposit explain both steps.

After your degree, the UK Graduate visa lets you stay and work. GOV.UK says it lasts 18 months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027. See how to apply for the UK Graduate visa.

Applying from Sri Lanka

Coventry sets entry requirements by country, so ask for the Sri Lankan A/L and degree equivalents for your course before you apply; Prosper can confirm them with the university for you. IELTS Academic is available in Colombo and other cities (see our IELTS Sri Lanka guide). After your CAS, you book biometrics at VFS Global in Colombo (what to expect at VFS Colombo), take the TB test at the IOM clinic in Colombo (IOM TB test guide), and show funds held for 28 days (the 28-day rule).
